00001 | Aim for the Moon

What if I started writing daily here?  Probably most of the content would be terrible, right?  I mean, much of the content anyway.  Still, it would drive me to expand on my routine.

You see, I have been writing daily, just not publicly, more targeted towards some long-form stories, and some plotting.  It's been about 2 months now that I've written daily without fail.  I've been able to so far, and it's become second nature to write again.

It's been a while since I'd removed the hair from the drain, so to speak.  The water is flowing more quickly now down and out.

So maybe I start to write daily again.  And maybe I keep track of it here.  And maybe I write about anything I damn well want.  And maybe, sometimes, I expand out into a larger form article from an initial idea?  And just maybe poetry counts.  And just maybe so do code snippets.

So, I have 5 digits.  If I number them, I have an upper limit here of about 273 years of possible room in my numbering scheme, and yet adding another digit seems presumptuous, and removing one feels like I'm selling myself short.

So I'll aim for the Moon, if not the Sun, and stick with 99,999 days as my upper limit of consecutive days written on, and I'll start to let you all in behind the curtain once more.  I feel like I did that very freely until my late 20's, and now that I'm in my late 30's my 10 years of not living dangerously have led me back around the block to where I started.

The internet has changed, and I've changed, and the world's changed, so why not?  The goal is to build a community of like minded folks, I guess.  Or different minded folks who are alright with talking to each other despite those differences.  We live in tricky times, but let's not be tricky with each other.  It's okay to care about things, but it's not okay to be assholes to each other.

Day 00001, this is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but with the same first step that started the journey of 10 thousand.  One in front of the other.

Peace,

Shane
